The Changing Lex Arbitri of the United Arab Emirates

Dubai is an important seat for international arbitration in the Arab world, and the volume of disputes has increased dramatically since the onset of the Global Financial Crisis in 2008. This paper is intended to introduce United Arab Emirates (UAE) arbitration law and explain the main differences between the outgoing Civil Code regime and the incoming framework of the new federal arbitration law of the UAE.
