CIArb is planning to hold an Accelerated Route to Fellowship (International Arbitration) course in Sydney on 19 and 20 November 2011.

This course (to be held in the Sydney CBD) is intended for suitably qualified candidates who are practising lawyers of at least 10 years’ standing and who otherwise have sufficient experience in arbitration.

The two-day program consists of small discussion groups and workshops, in which candidates will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and skill in arbitration.  There will be a pre-course assignment to be handed in when the course starts on Day 1 and written exercises. There will also be an overnight exercise to be handed in on Day 2.

Successful candidates who then also undertake the Award Writing Course and pass the Award Writing examination and are subsequently interviewed to the satisfaction of CIArb Australia may apply for Fellowship (FCIArb). Further steps can then be taken to become a ‘Chartered Arbitrator.’

The Course syllabus is based on international arbitration law and it is essential that candidates have at least a reasonable working knowledge of the UNCITRAL Model Law and Rules.
